I am a Yorkshire based Artist and illustrator. I exhibit my paintings in various galleries and illustrate books and gift cards. I have designed and painted backdrops for several innovative theatrical productions. My current role as Artist in Residence at the Jorvik Viking Centre involves set painting and the creation of props and giant works of art. 

My Acrylic and mixed media paintings range in scale, and are on canvas, wood and paper.  They draw upon my observations in the landscape and its mythological undertones. The intermingling of lines and shapes, inspired by the contours of hills, rocks and trees unlock the figurative features in the land and encourage the emergence of figures in my illustrations, paintings and sculptures.

My paintings imaginatively fuse abstraction and figuration in multi-layered images that speak of ancient myth and dream-like, otherworldly places. 

They develop organically through processes of creation, destruction and recreation, layering up and scraping away until the resolution of the painting evolves almost as an archaeological journey of discovery.  From their seemingly abstract appearance, ethereal figures emerge from a landscape full of colour, texture, light and openness.
